About Us

The Robert Hasson Community Center, named after the first African American Councilman in Northport, has been around for nearly 80 years. Woodrow Washington, owner of Archibald’s BBQ in Northport, is the current Community Center manager.

Mr. Washington’s main goal is to turn the center into a place for people of all ages to come together as a community. A place where people to go to find help when they need it. With the help of Ms. Shay Gray, Mr. Washington is focused on creating a center focused on bettering the community. With different ideas focused mainly on academics, the A.I.M. program was created. Academics in Motions will serve people of all ages with an overall goal to help further education. Obviously, that starts with kids. Getting kids the tutoring they need to help them with classes. We want to further expand into adult education. We currently offer GED help, and want to offer more parental education and computer literacy classes as well.
